Erie Skeet Club
The Erie Skeet Club started sometime in the mid 1940s. In 1947 a group of interested shooters incorporated the club and registered the name. The club was located on Rt. 97 in Erie, PA. After a few years the club moved to what is now the Steris Corporation property on 23rd Street. This location did not work out well and the club moved again to another location on Rt 97.
The club had to move again in 1951, at which time a club member by the name of Louie Kuhn bought the Bay City Property. Mr. Kuhn called it the Sky Crest Skeet club and he installed a skeet field. Other club members, Doc Rogers and Tom Kuharski were not in favor of the Sky Crest Property due to water issues. So Doc Rogers and Tom Kuharski researched properties and found the Thomas Road location for the Erie Skeet Club. The property was purchased in 1953 from the Farrells, and the Erie Skeet Club was established. In 1955 the club deeded the grounds over to the Erie Skeet Association. The association was established to oversee the club activities and insure that the original intent of the club operations continued as planned. The Association was made up from long time members of the skeet club who had years and years of experience in shooting activities. This action gave the Erie Skeet Club responsibility for day to day operations with a younger group of individuals on their board to run the Club.
We currently feature three skeet fields and one trap field. Our address is 7243 Thomas
Road, McKean, PA 16426.
